I do it every year for Gus. I bake two cake in two rectangular pans, slice ice cream from a carton (or sometimes ice cream sandwiches) and layer over one cake then put the other cake on top and frost. Gus always wants a red velvet and ice cream cake for his birthday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ah, slicing the ice cream vs getting it soft and refreezing. Smarty pants.
Carvel!
They are kind of hard to eat after hearing Tom Carvel, that voice is full of spit. Some old Carvel Ice Cream commercials from the 70s USM
No ice cream cake. I made 25 meringue mushrooms so there was enough for everyone to get one with each slice. The cake was 4 layers tall, so i took the top two off, refrosted the bottom two and sliced and served. While i was performing surgery on the cake, DH handed out fruit "wands" to the kids which was fruit cut with mini cookie cutters and put on skewers.
I was talking about this with another parent at the bus stop last week. We both grew up with these commercials (NJ and NY) and his voice is unmistakable!
Good job, meri! That's a very nice looking cake! Much more professional looking than many cakes I've seen online.
