So are 18k trail races....but they aren't really the standard distances.

I think I ran the Schuylkill Loop race once (8.4ish)
Also a random XC race years ago which was some distance between 5k and 4 miles.....forget exactly.

A lot of ultras end up at weird distances, like 53 or 54 miles. I run a lot of timed races so i end up with oddball mileage I have run 27 mile "trail marathons," and 34 and 35 mile "50Ks" (a 50K is 31ish miles).

Westport Summer Series: 2.2, 3.8, 4.1, 4.75, 5.9, 6.85, 8.4 & 9.4 miles

I could list a bunch of races that I've run that are odd distances, but the above show the point.

Oh yeah ... Cooper River Park is a 3.65 mile loop

Fairbanks was famous for its off distance trail races, as well as several mismeasured 5Ks.

It Ain't Easy Hill Run - had 2 or 3 different courses of 10.8 - 11.7 miles.
Two Street Station Cookie Challenge (mostly roads) - 6.5 miles
Gold Discovery Run - 16.5 miles
Musk Ox Trail Run - 10.8 miles
Ester Dome Ass Kicker - 6.7 miles

To name a few of probably 15-20 odd-distance races a year in the community.

On to the 5Ks, about half of them (maybe a dozen a year) were measured fairly accurately, while the others ranged from about 2.8 to 3.3 miles. One of the oddest ones was the Statehood "5K" which was a fairly fast 5K through 2009, the state's 50th year, and then someone had the brilliant idea of adding 1/10th km for every year.
