Thanksgiving Dishes. HELP!
« on: October 03, 2012, 01:10:54 PM »
My family is doing a Thanksgiving potluck on Monday.

I need to bring a dish, but here's the trouble. Half the people there are vegetarians.  :(

Anyways- I want to bring a dish that everyone can enjoy. I need suggestions.

Oh- and they don't eat fish either.

And someone is already bringing a squash dish.

How about a salad?  Something with quinoa or lentils?   Or maybe cranberry sauce  :P

Then you need a vegetable dish. How about a salad. I like to do asparagus, green, bean, tomato and feta salad.

I was going to say that this looks fantastic, but it doesn't meet the "no wheat" requirement. It sitll looks fantatsic though, so I'm posting it anyway: http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/crispy-baked-kale-with-gruyere-cheese

I wonder if you could sub potatoes for the bread? Or maybe roasted cauliflower? GF bread? I dunno.

I love this dish! http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Roasted-Garbanzo-Beans-and-Garlic-with-Swiss-Chard-241110

This recipe is a big hit with my friends: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Risotto-with-Leeks-Shiitake-Mushrooms-and-Truffles-239801

I also have a recipe, at home, for a really yummy polenta casserole thingy that's made with greens and goatcheese. I can dig it out if that sounds interesting.

If I'm going to an "away" thanksgiving and bringing something to share, I make roasted acorn squash that I stuff with veggie stuffing. But, again, you have the issue of the non-wheat eaters. You could do a wild rice stuffing instead, I guess.

No. But my Girlfriend does.
Maybe she can bake something, I'll cook something and we'll both bring wine and beer and we'll totally be the heroes.
