Personally, since I eat it dry, I don't even think I should have to count a salad that doesn't have anything but veggies in it.

I was fantasizing about a cupcake today. A chocolate cupcake with a three inch head of frosting...
you had me at three inch head of frosting

Whne I have a large salad I don't really count it.. I put if in as large garden salad and comes out like 30-60 cal. I just count the 1 tsp of olive oil and whatever I put in it.

I am assuming Jamers probably means a restautant spinach salad that might have cheese bacon bits etc.. for that you guys should really try the mealsnap app.  I'm not sure how accurate it is, but its pretty cool and it estimates the calories based on the photo (this is the 3rd time I mentioned this app but no one listens to me  :fiery: )

I want to try that app.  Have you tried it? Does it really work? I am skeptical.

I made a nice healthy & tasty pasta with lots of veggies for dinner.  Pretty good eating day so far.  I got in a 4 mile run this afternoon that was tough but I finished.

I'm planning a splurge day on Tuesday....I'm going to make the kids' birthday cake and darn well intend on eating it!

My meal-salads are usually around 200 calories, but I always include nuts and dried fruits.  The veggies themselves aren't that caloric.

I have it and I used it but I am not sure how accurate it is. I snapped a large soft pretzel and it came out to 360.. which is probably about right, but I also snapped a small plate of nachos and I think it was low.  I snapped some home made bean and veggie soup and it came out to 190-285, which was probably about right.. it's a bit better than guessing I think.

harmony - does the spinach smoothie taste like spinach??  What do you put into it?  I'd like to try something like that for more veggies but I think the green color is what puts me off.  Also, I much prefer sweet smoothies to savory ones.

It was really good.  I got it from iowagirleats.com, posted in cherietrees thread.  Spinach, frozen banana, peanut butter, vanilla yogurt, almond milk.  Really green but tasted good and feels really healthy.  A little thin, I might bump up the yogurt and back off the milk a bit.  I used the full 4 cups of spinach.  Kept me full from 1 or so til dinner at 7 with no problem.  I also love spinach, though!

I should've mentioned that I really, really love my.sunflower seeds. And that croutons are the reason God invented salad.

Hot yoga this morning!  Only an hour class, shorter than the normal 90 minutes but I'm excited about that. That extra 30 minutes always feels like such a time suck.  Yogurt for breakfast, monster spinach smoothie for lunch and sushi for dinner!  Down another pound this morning, very weird but great.  Tempted to run later but probably better to stick a rest day in and do six miles tomorrow.  Working my way back!

Yay!  Didn't get punished for sushi yesterday, down a half pound.   Hiking today, then visit the in-laws.  Cauliflower crust pizza for dinner!  I can't wait.

i made my own cauliflower crust pizza (most recipes have cheese and egg, which are not vegan) where i steamed and pureed a head of cauliflower, then i stirred in some ww flour (3 tbs i believe) and some cornstarch (2-3 tbs) and some seasonings (basil, salt, garlic, oregano). Then i baked on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet for 25-30  minutes at 350, then i put on the sauce and cheeze and baked for 5-10 more minutes. It is a little mushy, but the cornstarch helped, as the first time i made it i just used flour. It was quite tasty, imo.

That sounds very good, but why is that better, calorie-wise, than adding honey or sugar?

Down a pound and then some this am. About to take care of that with a delicious b-fast out. It will be worth it.

it would be for those avoiding sugar, not from a pure calorie counting stand point. I really think sugar is the reason i cannot lose weight or have trouble. when i completely eliminate it from my diet, i lose weight, more so than calorie counting alone. And i would often use a banana anyways in my oatmeal.

Another late comer - I didn't see this thread until now.  I am excited for continued support.  From the WLC, I was two pounds to my goal.  I'm weighing myself weekly, so I'm not sure where I am today.  It's been hard to stay away from the scale because watching it go down is very motivating, but I felt like I was getting obsessed with weighing as well.  I definitely need to find a balance.

I heard something on the radio this morning, and I'm pretty sure it is just saying the same thing differently than what Dukan says, but the message was that the hormones that regulate your appetite take up to a year to adjust.  So while we're watching what we eat and we're losing weight, our appetites haven't readjusted completely and that's why so many people gain the weight back.  So having this support is great for maintaining as well as losing.

Also, my goal weight was selected based on a bunch of factors and I'm not sure if I want to adjust it down or not.  I want to maintain at my goal weight for awhile, and step up my exercise and work outs and just see what happens from there.  I haven't bought any new clothes yet, but am wearing stuff I couldn't wear for quite awhile.  Still, these clothes are a larger size than what I wore 20 years ago.  I don't know if a smaller me is really doable without sacrificing too much, though.

Orza - congratulations!  Your willpower is incredible and I'm so glad your efforts paid off!

Breakfast wasn't as bad as it could have been. I ended up having a veggie omelete. It was topped with cheese and had potatoes, toast (wheat) and fruit on the side. I started with the fruit and ate about 1/3 of the omelete, maybe 1/4 of the potatoes, 1/2 the toast most of the fruit. I'm starting to realize that following my eating plan just changes things for me. I am full sooner and I can only eat a couple of bites of something very rich- like full fat cheese. This is heartening.

Yeah for a successful breakfast out! I went to costco and resisted all sorts of temptation! I also came home to a huge bowl of spaghetti and only took a taste while heating up lunch. Almost ate the pasta instead!
