As a resident of a purple state that hangs out around a lot of well educated but not very political independent suburban voters, I can tell you that Obama is "losing the middle" like you wouldn't believe. I'm sure he'll still do well in Boston in 2012.
Go to the damn thing and give a really great speech on youth, outdoors, leadership, change, the future and inclusion.

You of all people should applaud Obama for standing up against organizations that discriminate against gays.
Then he should demand to be removed as honorary President of the organization. But guess what - he wouldn't do that in a million years for political reasons. What a tough guy.

Didn't he do the view because he was already in NY for something else? Where was the boy scout party being held?
In one of the stories I read it said the administration likes to schedule tv appearances when the President is in the same city as the taping, for example, he was on letterman a while back when he was last in NY.

My DH's last day of work was today because the Nuclear Regulatory Agency -- under Pres. Obama -- still has not signed the loan guarantee they were supposed to sign in March. He mentioned in this year's State of the Union that nuclear would be a priority to tie us over until we could go more green. It seems that was nothing but hot air. I don't care if he was on the View or at the Jamboree -- he's in the doghouse as far as I'm concerned.
aren't these being held up because the loan candidates pretty much suck?

The City of San Antonio is a bad loan risk? It's my impression that it's due to the imcompetence of the government (the Nuclear Regulatory Commission). But I'm not exactly unbiased on this issue.

Fort A. P. Hill, Virginia. Yahoo maps says it's a 1 hour and 26 minute drive from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Interesting stuff on BSA here, but honestly does anyone really give a rat's ass what the Pres does minute by minute? It really is just a game of "Bash the Dude In Charge". Newt Gringrich got it going and it's really been rolling for the past fifteen years or so. Now politicians are forced to be celebrities which means they have to get chewed up and spit out.
President Obama is taking a crap at an establishment owned by prominent Republicans which clearly shows disdain for the right or he wouldn't shit in their house.

On a side note, a guy I went to school with just posted a pic on my FB wall this morning. He'd found it on the FB page of one of his friends... It is a photo from maybe 1977, of my dad in his scoutmaster uniform. I was all, awwwwww

His minute to minute daily agenda isn't really the point of the discussion. That he picked The View, which is a fairly mindless target-audience kind of fake, over a less publicized traditional venue is pretty much the point. That said, the security issues of him attending the jamboree could have been enough to keep him away.

Maybe you would care if your president takes 4 vacations in 4 weeks. Aren't you glad he found some time to visit the ladies in The View. The guy has been too busy with his personal affairs.

So, where were you when Bush was taking all his extended vacations? Every time we turned around Bush was going off to Crawfordville or Martha's vineyard. And no one seemed to complain.

Unlike the BS, the Clintons didn't send him an invite according to some reports. GAReb, if you count going home a vacation, then Bush did take more vacations days in the same year as Obama did on trips playing golf.

I know that. I have no idea why I wrote Crawfordville. Guess I better get another cup of coffee. I'm just teasing. I think the Boy Scout Jamboree should trump The View, but if he was really progressive, he'd visit a Girl Scout event over the Boy Scouts.

Presidents don't get vacations...they just leave Washington. They are on duty 24/7. On the average day in the Oval Office how many "meet and greets" would occur for presidents? I saw one day in Bush's calendar and it was 18. I'm betting that's pretty normal in these times. Everyone wants their 6 minutes with the president. I'm thinking that doesn't lead to a lot of productivity. Better to get away so you can get things done.
