almost/not-quite workout.

plan: 12 incl 3@7:00 pace.

Weather is still awful, I am terminally tired, never seem to be able to get enough sleep.  Before I even started, I decided to put the 3 faster miles in the middle of the run, not the end.  Then I decided that 9 miles would be fine and I would make up the other 3.  Even with these wimpouts, I still had doubts.

I ran 4 slow miles, then 7:02, 7:01.  Then the next mile started on a hill and my legs and lungs just said no.  Jogged a slow mile (including a water stop), then ran a 6:57 mile, then jogged home to get 9.66 miles total.

Jo, your runs are sound an awful lot like mine (but yours are a bit faster).

I was supposed to do 8 miles yesterday, but just didn't have it in me so I opted for 8 this morning. My plan was to run the last three at an 8 minute pace.

The first two miles were slow and excruciating. Humidity was at 85% (79*) and my legs felt like lead bricks. I felt like I was towing a small car behind me. I managed to pep up for Miles 3-5 although I can't say I felt anywhere near good. Gritted my teeth and got through Miles 6-7 at a slightly quicker pace, but definitely not 8 minute miles. Ran out of gas on the last mile and just hobbled home.

yeah, this summer sure stinks, doesn't it?  I don't know what it is.  I've lived here the entire 8 years I've been running, so it's not like the weather is some kind of surprise.  I work many more hours than I did last summer, but this year it's a sedentary job so I should feel peppier.  But I don't.  And my running reflects it.  Bleh.

I think being sedentary during the workday is a culprit, at least for me. My legs swell when I've been sitting for long periods of time, especially my lower legs, and it HURTS to run when I am swelling. It's why I try to always run in the morning.

3 easy miles in the sauna that envelops CT.  I felt like crap and am most likely dehydrated from yesterday's tempo run.

Nice day here.  The humidity broke and it was somewhat cool.  Ran 7.  Felt good.

Big fat goose egg so far, but I did get to torture seven high school kids with max tests in the weight room at the U.

They did
2 min plank
max #sit ups in 60 sec
max #crunches in 60 sec
#pull ups
#dips
max weight on pull down machine
max weight on dip machine, and max #dips at 50% of max
#reps for deltoids with dumbell
then #of two-legged hops on a 15" box--hopping side to side
#1 legged hops onto a 9" box, each leg

4 miles, today.  Relatively flat.  My legs are trashed from three days of nothing but hills in a row.

Missed my chance to run this morning so I did strength and 3.25 miles on the treadmill this evening.

Decided to take a rest day yesterday and tried to run today but ended up playing it safe instead and did 68 mins on the elliptical.

Knee pain still there, but getting a bit better. Might try running again in the AM.

10 miles. Got carried away because of the rest day yesterday and ran the last 5 sub-7.

Still feeling bloated and odd. Weight is up over 10 pounds vs a few days ago.

I haven't run since Monday.  No biggie.  I'm feeling better and will get back out there tomorrow.

6 miles: hillwork.  Followed by dehydration symptoms for the rest of the day and night-not fun.
