Snow day viewing of A Christmas Story with the kid. He’d never seen it, though I wondered if a vision of 1950s Americana would be relatable to a zoomer. Turns out, tongues stuck to frozen flagpoles, overly-bundled-up children, and Santa planting a boot in a kid’s face are timeless.
You'll shoot your eye out!
BE SURE TO DRINK OVALTINE
I can't remember the last movie I went to, I walked out on the Hobbit, that was a minute ago.
I think I saw all three Hobbit movies... the only memorable thing about them is Tim from The Office as Bilbo Baggins. I could definitely watch the LotR movies again at some point, maybe when there’s a Star Wars lull.
Star Wars disco music playing.I loved the Tolkien books. LOTR movies are not bad, but I saw them all at home and I was beery so I was dozing off a few times during them.
You know my feelings—I’m usually the ultimate book snob, but LotR was wildly better in movie form! The books were a snooze-fest even sans booze! Speaking of...I read the new book adaptation of Pan’s Labyrinth with the kid, then we recently watched the movie. The movie is great, but it’s a million times better if you’ve read the book (the book layers in even more myth and magical realism and adds depth to characters).
I read they books in the early to mid 80s. Twas simpler times and we chilluns wuz easily amused.
There’s no way you were amused by all those damned elvish songs!
I always thought they were Dornish.
You were prolly dipping into the Arbor gold!
You finish High Castle yet, dreamie?
Still need to watch 9 and 10😂
