I run the Delaware 1/2 every year and it's my favorite race. It's a nice little race, the directors put on a great after party. It's so nice and personal. I just really love it. A lot of people do.
This year there as some heart ache that I just have to talk about.
First, we have a Kenyan (Titus Kipemoi Rotich) who won in 2014 and 2015. He was planning on coming back this year and qualifying for Boston. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way. So, he's Kenyan and training aside, it's a lot of work to get him here. He got waylaid in Canada. Apparently, you need he needed a transit visa to get from Canada to Philly and he didn't have it. So, he never made it to the DMRF. He was crushed.
Second, there's this guy Rob, who's a DMRF streaker. He's run the marathon all 13 years. As of this time last year, he'd run 254 marathon. Number 300 was yesterday. And a big deal was made of it and it was SUCH a fun weekend for him. On his way home to upstate NY, yesterday, he totaled his car and ended up in the ER.
Turns out he's ok and is being released this am.
