Deviled eggs

I am thinking about bringing deviled eggs to a party tomorrow night but want to jazz them up.  Didn't someone share a recipe with wasabi?  And I think another one was shared too?  Help please!

ooooh... I like the idea of wasabi... you could garnish with toasted sesame seeds and thin-sliced green onion...


I haven't made devilled eggs for a million years, but chinese tea eggs are my new potluck go-to.  Soft-boil 1 dozen eggs (add to boiling water and cook 6 minutes), remove from water and run under cold water to cool the surface and stop the cooking.  Use the back of a spoon to crack the egg shells all over, but do not peel (this is how you will get a marbled egg.  Add them to a pot of and cover with water then add 3-4 tbsp loose leaf black tea (or 3-4 teabags), 1/2 a cinnamon stick, 4-5 star anise, a few peppercorns, 1/2 c. of soy sauce, if you have some clementine, mandarin or tangerine oranges, add the peel from one of those too.  Bring to a boil, reduce and simmer for 30-45 minutes (and yes, this will result in a green ring around the yolk, don't worry about it).  Remove from heat but leave the eggs in the liquid overnight.  Peel and serve whole or in halves.

I ran out of time and just did eggs with wasabi, rice vinegar and mayo, topped with a little pickled ginger, toasted sesame seeds and chives.  They were delicious!

I adore deviled eggs.  Funny to read about them here as I always think of them as a very old fashioned food.  Maybe one of the basic comfort foods?

I had never heard of them until I met DH, his grandmother LOVED them and loved to make them. I have since made them several times for him.

I love them too - total comfort food.  DH's grandmother serves them at most holiday family meals. 

I made another batch of the wasabi eggs.  These too were gone in minutes!

Those Chinese tea eggs are beautiful. But my first thought would be that someone's eggs went bad. They would have to tell me what they are (of course now I'd know what they are if I saw them).
