Ryan Hall retired

have you heard?

there was a very nice article in NYT about this: His Strength Sapped, Top Marathoner Ryan Hall Decides to Stop

Quote
When Hall spoke of his retirement, he displayed his race jerseys, all immaculately preserved on hangers, unwashed, and with their racing bibs still attached. He looked triumphant as he assembled them, but then his mood seemed to shift.

“This is the first time I’ve gotten a little bit sad through the whole process,” he said. “But it’s not a sad moment like I’m making a mistake. It felt like I was reliving a great race, one that you want to relive. But you can’t.”
feeling like reliving something but cannot, oh how I know that sadness.

anyway, I wish him well.

(And HI to mango!)

and HI to you too!

“...I’m not going to be someone who hangs on...”

there was a time when I said the same thing to myself about something.

which of course means I ended up being that very someone who hung on, and on and on and on and then some.

guess that's why the story resonated with me in a way I hadn't expected.

anyway.

thanks for the interview link, RandMart.
