I ran 3 races this year to establish my 50+ age group baselines. A May half marathon at Kalamazoo in 1:40:29 (7:39). The July 4th 10k here in 45:26 (7:19). The pre-Thanksgiving half marathon here in 1:36:49 (7:24). So I guess I ended the year fitter than I began it. I stayed relatively healthy through the year, though that last HM took a lot out of me and I decided to take a weeks rest afterwards because my hamstrings were quite wobbly. I did no speed workouts and no 5k or mile races this year. Just longer slower stuff, with 7:40 pace being about as fast as I ever ran a training run.Weight has been an issue. My lowest weight was around 165 and my highest and current weight is almost 172. I consider 160 to be the top end of racing weight for me. I'm really struggling to control the fork, especially after 5 pm. I also need to get to bed earlier and maybe add in a 2nd workout before going to work most mornings.

Total miles are irrelevant for me (and sprintist as well). I had a good year:Finished 11th at Indoor National Masters T&F Championship in 60 meter dash, 6th in Long Jump in MarchFinished 12th at Outdoor National Masters T&F Championship in 100 meters, 10th in 200 meters, 6th in Long Jump. A fellow competitor in the long jump was an orthopedic surgeon and he was astounded I was long jumping with an artificial hip. He told me I was the story of the meet. I was flattered (but not the story of the meet).Ran a half marathon in October.Happy to be able to sprint and do distance running as well on my artificial hip at age 56.
a review of my spreadsheet reveled an error. I am only at 1898 as of today. Still, 2k is within reach. Off last two weeks of Dec so that should help.
Junk miles are miles run to made the log look "good".
