Tell me about your experience with muscle compartment syndrome. How long did you not run? (Runner's World says to take off 3-4 months) What did you do instead? I am very sad. Did not do a great, hilly 10K this past weekend that I was registered for (Cow Harbor in Northport NY) and won't be able to do a 1/2 marathon that I'm registered for on October 5. Did I mention that I am very sad?!

what caused/causes your compartment syndrome?
mine was caused by an underlying medical problem - once that was resolved, i was better.
until then, however, i was one miserable puppy. i spent my time rock climbing and spinning.

I don't know what caused it. It came out of no where. All blood work has come back normal, as did x-ray and ultrasound. Waiting to hear from my doc to see if insurance has approved an MRI.

My running partner of many years had compartment syndrome. It was several years before we met, but she is tough as nails and I believe her when she says it was crippling. She had the surgery to unzip the facia and release her strangled muscles. No visible scars, and she's good as new 20 years later.
