My Vegan Sandwich
« on: January 20, 2013, 06:00:15 PM »
So I flew today and had ordered a vegan meal. It was quite good, but the winner was the sandwich I received about 90 min. before landing: nice crusty, whole wheat bread with grilled vegetables and olive oil. Really, this sandwich was to die for...  The regular meal that others around me received did not look and smell as good.

I had one of the best sandwiches ever at the natural food cafe in the Philly airport. Another trip i had an AWESOME brown rice salad in the Philly airport at a locally owned cafe that has shop in one of the terminals. Airport food, in some places, has come a long way.

eight hour flight. You have to order vegan, vegetarian, strict vegetarian, wheat free, low salt, low calorie, etc. when you book the ticket.
Most people just go for the regular meal.

my vegan sandwich:

Hummus, peppadew peppers, spinach, shredded carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, cilantro, red onions (sprinkle a bit of salt and pepper) on thickly-cut fresh bakery multi grain bread.

Very delicious. Very filling. I did not miss the meat or cheese. AT ALL.
