The Marathon Project was a coivd-derived elite only marathon held last weekend on a 4.2 mile circuit in the desert near Phoenix, AZ. Organizers realized that since the US Olympic Trials last February there had been few chance for runners on this continent to race a quality marathon under good conditions and with official sanctioning. So they created the Marathon Project. The results were pretty impressive with 7 men going under 2:10 (won by up and comer Martin Hehir in 2:08:59, 7th US All time) and 12 women running sub 2:30. Sara Hall was dominant running 2:20:32 and she now is the 2nd fastest US Marathoner ever.
