Just did the USATF Masters 15K championships in Tulsa, OK this weekend and came out with another win, making a sweep of five for five in 2018.
We had a new course and near perfect weather. Last year's course was hillier and it was very cold and windy. They smoothed out some of those hills and it was mid-50s to low 60s when we raced this time. However, times were actually slower. More turns and more hills (although smaller rollers, not the long climbs with long descents).
Plan was to go for sub 55 (low 5:50s) but I never got close to that, instead averaged 6:00 for 55:59. Our team also won, solidifying our 2nd place finish for the Grand Prix. An overall team win would have been nice but the year could not have gone better.
1 mile, 5K, 8K, 15K, and half marathon medals for 2018.
