My daughter called and told me that my grandson was running in a relay in 30 minutes and wanted to know if I wanted to watch it. Since the meet was only 10 minutes from my house, we got there with 10 minutes to spare.
The first leg was in fourth place when he handed off to my grandson. My grandson went through the first lap in 65 high looking very relaxed. By the half, he was in second place, but about 70 yards behind the lead runner. With about 300 meters to go, my grandson really picked up the pace and went flying by the lead runner eventually handing the baton to the third runner with a comfortable lead. The third runner expanded the lead and the anchor ran a 4:26 leaving no doubt as to which team was going to win. Everyone on the relay team set a personal best; something that is pretty unusual. To add to that, they broke the meet record.
