21 miles.  Felt strong, that was a good confidence builder.

Nice. I miss marathon training.  I think I'll target one or the spring.

5K race this morning -- I wanted to slip under 28:00, but it was way too windy and I just missed with 28:09.  My percentage place in the field was my highest this year; finishing ahead of 42% of the runners (519 finishers).  I was also second in my age group.  My next race is in two weeks on a much faster course and another opportunity to break 28:00.

3 hour hike with DH on the AT.  It is such rough terrain.  VP of T will have her work cut out next year.

Trying the roads again with my hams.  Not bad for a few K before this started to tighten up.  6K in total.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.

26.2 today. Ran a bunch of miles with a girl who's a college freshman--has previously run Grandfather Mtn and was looking to PR, so she asked me to pace her. She ran with me to around mile 22, but then the run-walk thing she wanted to do was harder on my old bones than just keeping on chugging along consistently.  Found her again at the finish, and she accomplished her PR! :D

Had a great time, though. I went into this race with the same philosophy as watching kids movies with my 4-y.o.: go in with no expectations/limited expectations and you won't be disappointed. I started the race just wanting to git 'r' done, since I hadn't done a marathon since 2009; in the end I had a great time enjoying other runners' company and helping a girl with a lot of promise reach her goal.

Went to the track for a half marathon time trial. I am getting tired of hilly courses ruining my chances for sub 1:50.

During the 5th mile my right hammy and quad started to flair up in the same spots that locked up in last weekend's hilly half. Apparently I wasn't fully recovered. I decided to shut it down and save myself instead of risking injury. 5 miles at 8:20 pace.

Good miles everybody.

Interesting post.  Congratulations on finishing.  I gallowalked two marathons and found them very easy and forgiving on the body...  Gallowalk is going to be my marathon mode from now on.

Up in MA at a Halloween themed fun run 5K. Ran well, wore lots of silly neon. Course was a bit long, 3.3 miles.
