Thanksgiving weekend in Canada. Did a 10K Turkey Trot put on by a church in a farming town about 90 minutes south-west of Toronto. Only 22 entrants in the 10K and 57 in the 5K. There were only three entrants in my 60-69 AG, so I was ensured a podium finish.
Just coming back from a calf injury, so I did push it too much in the first half, but it felt pretty good. Managed a 50:09, which was almost 80 second betters than the 10K I did last month. So got 8th overall, just finishing behind the top two females, and 1st in AG. Had about a 20 second negative split on a somewhat flat course.
Just about everybody got a draw prize, with lots of local goods, baskets of apples and potatoes, apple pies (Church start point was right beside an Apple Orchard), a couple of knitted items, and gift certificates from local retailers and restaurants. I ended up with a 1000pc puzzle and a bag of nuts and chocolate almonds.
