Flights and marathons?

Any caveats or advice? I'm taking a trip shortly before a marathon this fall. Is it best to have a couple of days in between? Compression socks?

So your marathon is at home? Getting back 2 or 3 days ahead should be fine for you. Get an aisle seat so you can get up a couple to move around of times during your flight. Reviews on effectiveness of compression socks are mixed. But it won't hurt.

Yeah, mostly at home. I plan on flying back in on Wednesday, chill and loosen up on Thursday, drive to the marathon venue Fri (3 hours), marathon on Saturday.

Hydrate well. Hope the flights are short.
