Stupid question of the day (now with cheesecake pictures)
« on: June 17, 2016, 02:01:14 PM »
Do I have to go buy a mixer to make a cheesecake?  Normally I just use a whisk, but cream cheese may not be all that amenable to whisking.  I don't think the boyfriend has a mixer either, although he does have a stick blender.

You might want a hand mixer. I think they're pretty inexpensive.

you can use a pastry blender with cream cheese, but that would make me really irritable.  just buy a hand mixer.  they're nice to have around, anyway.

try this one

You could technically mix it by hand, but not with a whisk and it would take a while.

Room temp cream cheese isn't super hard to mix, by the way.

I think my pimento cheese recipe technically requires a mixer (and does have cream cheese), but I just use a wooden spoon.  And take breaks when I get tired.  But it's also ok if pimento cheese is lumpy.  Cheesecake probably not so much.

At least the mixer witchy linked is pretty.  Target supposedly has them too.  I want a red one if I have to get one.

It is in your best interest to have a mixer if you are making cheesecake. I guess a hand mixer would do, but my recipe necessitates a stand mixer so my arm doesn't fall off.

I bought a hand mixer.  It is red.  It is pretty.  OMG it is amazing to beat cream cheese!

Also, I am really, really slow when I make something I've never made before.  This cheesecake better be good.  And yes, I am altering the recipe of something I've never made before because I couldn't find the exact recipe I wanted.  (But I think I READ enough recipes that I am not screwing anything up.)

The final cheesecake.  Not perfect, but still quite tasty.

Looks great!
People put a lot less effort into picking apart evidence that confirms what they already believe.

The money is in the division. Always has been, always will be. Divide and rule, the politician cries; unite and lead, is the watchword of the wise.
