I decided not to do it. I was feeling too beat up already and uninspired. I want to focus on my new job and gym stuff and running for fun. Once I made the decision to skip the marathon, I felt FREE!  :D

Can't argue with that.  If it makes you feel good, why not?  Did you tell the RD that you are not running?  Someone may be eager to take your place and number.

Beautiful warm summer day.  12.2K.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.

8.3 miles including:

2.5-mile warm up
4 x 200 meters with 200-meter jog recoveries
4 x 400 meters with 400-meter jog recoveries
4 x 200 meters with 200-meter jog recoveries
1.8-mile cool down

That was not fun--hot night for speedwork and the park was crowded.

I hear you. I was feeling really beat up after last November's marathon and decided not to run a marathon this year. Currently mixing things up and training for the Fifth Avenue Mile. Might run a spring marathon next year.
