Food / Re: Christmas food!

Ooh, smoke pork loin sounds good.

We're doing the traditional - turkey, sides, mashed potatoes and enough wine to sink a ship.

Just one family dinner for us, and pretty small at that with just my sister and nephew.  Christmas has changed a lot but I don't think I mind.  Less stress.

Whatcha making?

Its supposed to be 72 degrees here, so I'm going to smoke a pork loin. I think im also making a bread pudding with a bourbon sauce and maple bacon topping.  Maybe homemade Mac and cheese (which I could finish in the smoker.  Maybe roasted Brussels sprouts.

Depends on whether it's just me and one friend, or if it's me and several friends.

My family is doing Christmas Eve afternoon and just ordering sandwiches platter from the store.  Dad cant cook anymore and my stepmother broke her elbow (on her dominant arm of course).  A real meal for a bunch of people is too much to put on a 13 year old.  I guess they could have ordered a ham and we all potluck, but the other grown "kids"  have multiple family things.  And it's hard for me to keep something hot for an hour drive (not to mention if I cook, I am not going to be on time.

8 miles total interval work. It was 25°F and super windy.

2 mile warm up, 2x800, 1 mile, 2x800 with a 400 jog between each and a 2 mile cool down.

Took yesterday off as the back was pretty tender.

Felt better this morning, so run commute day. Felt better going uphill home than downhill to work, as the jarring was less stressful on the back and front shins. 14K for the day.

Nice that the finish was indoors on a yucky day.

4 miles. Bit chillier and pretty hilly route, but still dry.

I can't run anymore, and I didn't volunteer (most of my weather-appropriate gear is too small anymore) this year, but cool story re my local marathon. (He is not from here; he's from a neighboring state). Zander-Velloso Enjoys Winning Debut at 49th Rocket City Marathon - Tennessee Valley Outsider

Weather was right around freezing with 15mph winds.  It sucked.  I have friends who volunteered and the runners couldn't open their own gu at the aid stations (neither could the volunteers, so scissors) because their hands were too cold.

Took a personal day to get some farm work done and got to enjoy a run in the sun. 5.25 miles and 6 uphill strides for 5.8 miles total.

Was actually pretty warm out too, was 40°F by the time I got home.

Ran an easy 5.4 miles, mostly ice free for the first time in three weeks. The warming spell has cleared the paths except for a few spots.
I was fighting a cold for about two weeks and then it turned into a sinus infection so now I'm taking antibiotics.
