It was white and flaky. It was sublime and delicious, almost like that breast slice of a perfectly cooked turkey on Thanksgiving. It began with a "C", or maybe it was a "K". It was served on a bed of couscous with white asparagus and a hint of white sauce. The shades of pale on my plate made me want to weep with joy, the presentation alone stroking heartstrings I did not know I had.
What was it? I had never heard of it and cannot recall what the waiter told me.
* I posted this in the Open Pub too, but they are not sober enough there to answer.

:D
maybe it was and I got rooked!
It was on the specials menu, no sign of it on the website.

were the flakes large or small? do you remember if it was freshwater or ocean fish?
-
was it dense? was it thick or thin?
was the piece fish-shaped or square/rectangular? (as in, was it a whole fillet or part of a fillet from a large fish?)
did it come with the skin?
-
*skin - check
*smallish steak, bit smaller than a swordfish steak "fish shaped", not a thin fillet or square like a piece of Talapia
*flaky in larger chunks, not small bits
*melt in your mouth consistency
*I'd bet good money it was of the ocean, but do not know for sure

Call the restaurant and ask.
-
bream?
-
turbot?
-
Chilean Sea Bass, originally known as Patagonian Toothfish, but they renamed it because who would order Toothfish?
-

Years ago I had black cod in a restaurant that was the best tasting fish I've ever eaten.
I've had black cod several times since, but it wasn't the same....sometimes it wasn't even the same fish.
I think the fish naming thing is ...fishy.

Wow, that's an eye opener and explains a lot of my disappointing seafood experiences, I think. I had no idea.

"Golden Corvina fish"
-
I've never had corvina... must be a warm-water fish.
