Hey all,
I'm hosting a small baby shower for an out of town friend. There will be only 11-12 of us and we are only going to be at my place from 4-6:15 ish (after party at a local pub so all the SOs and her other male friends who didn't want to do the baby shower thing (eye roll) can join).
So, I don't a ton of food but it's a party and people like party snacks. So I'm looking for one more thing to fill in the savory part of my menu. Here's what happening so far.
Wine/beer
Mocktail/cocktail (friend bringing this fruity mix that goes with champagne or fake champagne)
Water and maybe some nice sodas if I can carry them home today
Mini cupcakes with blue frosting (boy)
It's a boy hershey kisses (because they were cute)
Chocolate peanut butter bars (since the cupcakes are vanilla)
Grapes
Assorted nuts
Baked bri with honey, craisins and some sort of cracker or bread
Hummus with veggies
AND ... what's one more simple thing that can be added. Meat is okay but I don't feel we need it. The crowd tends to eat healthfully but tofu triangles or something similar would not be a big hit.

Fruit platter
Tortilla chips and salsa/guacamole
Potato chips and dip
-
Cowboy caviar, which is a bean/corn/avocado/tomato dip. I've had something similar to this recipe (http://www.food.com/recipe/cowboy-caviar-155471) but it had black beans instead of black-eyed peas. Serve with tortilla chips.
-
tortilla chips, salsa, guac
assorted frozen appetizers from like Costco
pasta salad
-
cucumber and cream cheese sandwich triangles
I don't like chips and salsas at these things. Salsa just drips too easily.
-
Classic cheese and crackers.
and can you ship some of those desserts to me...yum.

It's terrible but I was thinking of some homemade fancy popcorn or chips and it was the idea of flying crumbs and popcorn kernels that had me looking for something else. (I am one of those crazy people who does a deep clean when people leave not before they arrive ... it will be decent then too of course)
I like this idea ... thanks!
Redkitty, I thought about cheese and crackers but then figured with the brie and bread it would be enough cheese.
And yes, I would happily ship desserts. I won't be able to eat the cupcakes so that's good but am making the peanut butter squares gluten free ... hoping I get to freeze one for myself and then all leftovers go to the bar, get eaten by the expecting parents (who are staying with us), or in some other way disappear. (Of course I could make them with regular graham crackers and remove all temptation but I'm too weak willed these days for that :))
