I had never heard of this until today. Is it a thing outside Nearly Canada, MN?

That is disgusting. Somehow I am not surprised that it is a Missouri / North Dakota thing.
-
I've seen ribbon sandwiches before where you layer the bread like that with egg salad and whatnot, but I've never seen it frosted like that. Yuck.
-
Oh my word.
-
reminds me a bit of the Friends episode where Rachel tries to follow a recipe and the Sheppard's Pie and Trifle pages get stuck together.
-
Okay, good. The inlaws couldn't believe I never heard of it.
They agree it's nasty, but think it is almost cute enough to make up the difference.
-
Yeah, that looks really gross!
-
I had never heard of that. Now I am concerned that I cannot unknow it.
-
So what would you guys do if you showed up to an event and were expected to ear it? :o
-
I would suddenly become lactose-intolerant. Or allergic to gluten. Or something. Yup. Bad allergy. Can't touch the stuff. So sorry. Looks delicious.
-
I'm a fruitatarian
-
I'd eat a slice.
and if it tasted alright, maybe a second slice.
-
that thing belongs in the gallery of regrettable food :nono:
-
it is obvious none of you grew up in a franco american community.
polish loaf, anyone?
Funny. The inlaws are Croatian. I'm sure they would have all sorts of ethnic slurs at the ready in response. They're always on about how the Pollacks stole all their good ideas. And they're always ideas as good as sandwich loaf.
-
I want to make one ironically and serve it to hipsters. Hopefully they will all Instagram it before eating.
-
Oh please find some and let us know how it goes#!!

I'd eat it. It's just cream cheese, not sugary frosting.

You must do this.
-
I have never seen one of these, I'm not sure I would eat it, but I bet it would be a hit at potlucks in these parts...

:nono: (Jamers, I think this is my very first use of the no no no guy. I've always thought it should be saved for special occasions. You win!)

It's the layers of mushy white bread, mayo based "salads", deviled ham and olive nut spreads (http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/party-sandwich-loaf/38bf7e0c-fa74-4887-9148-ddbe86ba2752 (http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/party-sandwich-loaf/38bf7e0c-fa74-4887-9148-ddbe86ba2752)), THEN cream cheese that I think are problem. :nono: :nono:

what is the point of a sandwich you have to eat with a fork or spoon? A weird idea. Also anything with wet bread or cake is pure evil. I am looking at you, trifle.

I MIGHT eat it. Depending on whether the layers clashed badly with one another. I'm ok with cream cheese slathered on things.

Yes!
-
Okay, if it's wet soggy white bread, no way.
-
If it's soggy, no way. Otherwise? I don't really see what the big deal is. This is way less gross than...say... foie gras, for example.
-
I love tiramisu and trifle!
But heck no to mayo-salad layers and cream cheese. It's just too much!

yes, yes and yes. if layered desserts are wrong, I don't wanna be right!
-
If it were peanut butter and jelly layers and frosted with peanut butter, I'd eat it.
-
theoretically, you could make it with pumpernickel and layer smoked salmon, capers, red onion and cucumber... no, I still can't quite get past frosting a sandwich even if it is with cream cheese
maybe sage-y roast chicken with hot mustard, frosted with pate?
hmmm... it could be that sandwich loaf is just a plain old abomination, but that's not going to stop me considering it for the next friendly neighbourhood potluck...
-
If it were peanut butter and jelly carrot cake layers and frosted with peanut butter cream cheese frosting, I'd eat it.
-
Sandwich loaf doesn't sound appealing, but I could probably be convinced to try ice cream bread.
