So every Monday there are a myriad of treats in the work pantry area. Mostly sweets. This morning there is a box of assorted cheesecake slices, 3/4 or a TJ's flourless chocolate cake and another 3/4 of a bakery chocolate ganache layer cake. Not like oh just a smidge of the cake but nearly the entire cake is left over. Ya think people would stop bringing treats that nobody eats into their own homes? What makes them think we need them here are work either!!
RANT!

They do it to get it out of the house. It's not that nobody would eat it at home...it's that they WOULD eat it at home.
I'm going to bring in all the candy that I couldn't fit into the baskets. Otherwise it will be here.

You can go ahead and send me that chocolate ganache layer cake...mmmmmmmmm....
We have found, here at work, that if it is free, people will eat it. People have brought in some nasty stuff (as in it did not taste good) and yet it was free so people ate it.

Same at my work. People will eat anything. They are like wild animals :D

This.
But, I do agree with Hally. I would prefer people didn't bring stuff in. I've had to train myself to just not think of it as food, then it doesn't bother me.

I realize they bring it in so THEY won't eat it, but why keep buying things that nobody eats or wants to eat? How about bringing something more useful. Fruit. Or a nice hostess gift.
I am pretty good at not touching it too. If it comes from a store or a bakery. If it's a homemade seasonal treat I will usually have a bit.

On all of the above comments.

Well, if you only have two or three people at dinner it's not like you can just get a slice of cake, you kind of have to buy the whole thing.

Oh. I only bring in good things. :) And candy.

When the Trolls were still living at home, all leftovers of any kind came here.
The guys usually polished them off in late night "secondsies and thirdsies" raids.
