Title: Frankenstorm food thread
Post by: BonitaApplebum on October 29, 2012, 01:13:39 PM
Whatcha planning on making/eating during the storm?

I mentioned in the other thread that I took a couple of steaks out of the freezer, as I assume we'll be grilling once the power goes out.

We roasted pumpkin sees earlier today and are snacking on those now.

I am taking a gamble that the power will last another hour and I'm making potato leek soup. I can always finish it off on the grill/camp stove if I need to, but it will be chunky... no stick blender in a power outage!

Yesterday was our big cooking day-- DH made a huge pot of tomato sauce and will boil up some pasta soon. I made brown rice salad and tofu pad thai and made him some brownies just now when he got home from work. We have veggie burgers and a propane grill as well.

OK, soup is blended and on the stove staying warm.

Coffee is ground.

I want to make something else (I'm a little stir crazy and over caffeinated) but can't think of what.

Chicken Teriyaki
Brocolini
Jasmine Rice
Salmon and Avacado roll.

I can't decide between a Pale Ale, a Reisling or a Creamed Sake.

Now we are really playing with fire. DH baked some bread, which is still finishing up. I'm making a meatloaf (under the assumption that I'll figure out some way to finish it off on the grill should the need arise).

I really want to bake some cookies, but I'm holding back on that impulse...

DH never made the pasta for his sauce and the lights are flickering, hoping we get 15 mins to boil pasta!!!
