Title: Saturday November 1, 2025

I had a 10K race. I was much later getting there than normal and barely had time to stretch and no time for a warm up run. I was still doing pretty well until about mile 5 when the pace cyclist was nowhere in sight. I was in first and for some reason he was keeping a distance on me that I could barely see him during the race at all. Then I came to a turn and the volunteers there pointed me in the wrong direction ;( They ended up sending the top 8 runners the wrong way by which point I'd made it back to the finish but from the wrong direction and we figured out what had happened and they walkied the wrong turn volunteers. Everyone else went the right way.

All told I got 5.6 miles in at 5:40 pace and the portion I missed was downhill. I was disappointed but it happens and it was a first for me. Got in a 2 mile cool down and treated myself to a cookie and some cold brew. Weather was excellent, right around 50°F and sunny.

Tough going kawasa. Good run though.

We had two local races that had marshalling mistakes recently. Three elite women in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon missed a right turn being about 50 meters behind the lead woman and bicycle escort, when they went out of sight, and they ended up going straight and finishing only a half marathon, instead of the second half of the full.

At the Niagara Falls Half Marathon, lead bicyclist made a turn too soon and top three men cut the course short by about a kilometer.

A quick 10K for me to burn off some energy before Game 7 Jays-Dodgers.

My first thought as I realized the mistake was of the Niagara Falls mix up and appreciating that mine wasn't that big of a deal compared to that!

The next race I have planned I've run either 7 or 8 times so no way anyone will be able to mislead me lol Plus with over a thousand finishers I will be thrilled if I'm only following 20 people.
