Sunny morning for a run, after yesterday's almost all day rain. 14.25K

Injured reserve list. Outer hip pain started Thursday evening (an easy cross-training day) but one with lots of yard work and by Friday morning was terrible.
Hoping it's something not too major per below. First significant injury since starting a progressive base-building training program July 5th 2019.
Was one mile (per run) away from my base building goal. Oh well................

Hip pain on the outer part of your hip is typically caused by problems with the soft tissues (ligaments, tendons, and muscles) that surround your hip joint, not in the joint itself. A number of conditions can cause outer hip pain. These include bursitis and tendonitis.

Sorry to see this. Do you have a PT or similar you can go to for quick diagnosis and tx?

I sent in a appointment request to my orthopedic doctor on Friday and got no reply.
Wouldn't be surprised if they are taking Fridays off.
I'll call my PCP Monday if not improving significantly.
I need an Rx from either to get PT paid for.

I've never had a sports related hip injury. Tons of back injuries and several knee injuries.
Given how painful this is, I'm hoping quick onset painful hip injuries are a "thing" and not an indication of something really screwed up.
i have zero baseline to judge having no recollection of having had one before.

I've had a myriad of hip things and it's probably my weak point. You are doing the right thing by calling the doc and aiming for PT. Like anything, it's a process of rest/recovery then rehab and rebuild. The timeline on these can be quite variable.
