Whatcha got?
With all the race cancellations over the next month or so, are you thinking of some alternatives?
Against reasonable judgment I'm going to do an 800 m virtual race today. It'll be age graded so I should be able to time trial an estimated mile pace and still get a decent age grade score.
And I'm thinking of aiming for a track 10000 m time trial at the end of April if these cancellations continue. And if I can't do 10K ill do 8K and call it good.

Not sure yet but those both sound interesting. Report back on the 800m race please. Can't imagine racing a 10k on the track though. How do you handle pacing fro that? negative split or pick something out of the gate and hang on?

The 800 more or less sucked but it was cathartic. We in the US/Europe are in unprecedented times in our lives.
2:46.2 (age grade 77.2%)

10K on the track is actually not so terrible. Three ways to do it without going crazy: steady effort (but you might need a pacer for much of the way); progression, starting at threshold effort and working toward a fast finish; fartlek with surges and floats.
But that's why I mentioned an 8K. Do the 8K at 10K pace and it won't be so bad.

Got it. Thanks. Once I set my mind on a 10k it's pretty tough for me to do less. BUT that does sound like a good way to ease into it.
I was supposed to race a 10K on April 4th. Thinking to just do that here.

Not sure how I would do a virtual 60 meter dash. And self timing is silly, difficult, and completely inaccurate.

Do long distance races. Like 200 and 400.
