Jessica Chichester ran 2:45 for a surprise 5th at Boston. Their rule clearly state that to be eligible for prize money the women had to be in the elite wave (starting 28? minutes) ahead of the men's and citizen's runners. But they made an exception this year due to the extreme conditions. So both the 5th place elite, and Chichester who actually had the 5th best time on the day, got $15000. And the went further and gave out prize money to five women who were in the late start.

Nice.

That's the right thing to do, which is a BAA anomaly
Not sure it's the right thing to do (nor is it the wrong thing to do), but it is a nice thing (I assume for PR) to do for a fine accomplishment.

I think it's so awesome they did this and acknowledges what anomaly this year was!

The thread title confused me; I initially thought they rescinded prize money to women. :old:
