Title: for those of you who cycle & run
Post by: Handsome Jack on August 29, 2017, 03:23:02 PM
have you found that the cycling has helped to improve your running?

I've been cycling for about 6 months now. I do sense an improvement in my running (I'll see for sure when I race a half or two), but unsure if that is due to the cycling or just due to dropping some weight.

I use an exercise bike, not an actual bike.

Mainly to burn more calories without taking a pounding.

But I also wear 1lb gauntlets on my hands and
have them moving in the same motion as when I run.

I have noticed that hills don't bother me as much as they used to.
And my arms are seem stronger and during hard runs I can pump them without straining.

So yes, cycling has helped my running.
Though it would be more accurate to say it helps my jogging.

I used to run to improve my cycling and hockey.  I don't think it worked the opposite way.

Yes. I mountain bike. I'll bike/run/bike. Then if I'm sore, I'll bike.

The cross training of biking I think helps with strength and core and I find I can get my heart rate up higher biking than I can running.
