I ran a HM on Saturday in San Diego. Large event, early morning start at 6 a.m. About 8 miles into the race, we get onto a divided highway where the runners are using two lanes, and the traffic is in one direction, the same as that of the runners, on the other side of the divider. Traffic is very slow, about as slow as we are running.
From his car, a white male starts screaming obscenities and threatening us, the runners. He gets booed, but continues. This goes on for about 3-4 minutes, and lo and behold, we hear a siren and see 2 policemen on motor cycles appear behind him. Cheers all over!

Nuthin like obnoxious and belligerent drivers to entertain you during a race. Especially those trying to get to Church on Sunday morning yelling at the cops at intersections to stop the runners and let them through. :rotfl:

There's nothing like interfering with the sweet old lady when she's trying to get to church on Sunday! One race I've done a few times down on the Cape has been known to have its share of impatient church goers on the route.
There is another race that I've done a few times where the road gets narrow but it's not closed and I've had a guy in a truck swerving to try and run us off the road. It's an annual race for many years and its Labor Day. Relax people.

I was amazed at how many people were trying to cost the road during the first half of the marathon Sunday... This is the part that is crowded as the half and the full had not split yet... Two people with bikes literally crossed like 2 feet in front of me and a little old lady pulling a shopping cart... Oy! It's not like they didn't have warning this was happening
