I used to think distance like this was a waste of my time.  Now I'm psyched just to be logging any miles at all.

11K Summer Solstice Run.  Small race just a couple of dozen in the 11K and about 50 in the 5K.  Evening run on an out and back hilly course.  Basically two big hills and rollers the rest of the way.  Wasn't a flat section for more that 100 meters and had a brisk wind today.  Finish in 49:18, 4th overall and 1st in the 50-59 age group.  Three yoots took the top three places ahead of me almost 5 minutes ahead.  My GPS had the course short by almost a half kilometer.  Got a $10 Starbucks gift card for my efforts.
