Can I have an over use injury already?!?! I just finished the c25k and have a race on Saturday. The last two Saturdays I started my"long"'runs. 4 miles last weekend and 5 miles yesterday. I have a nagging pain DEEP in my butt which seems to radiate from my right obterater internus (the tendon-y part). It's more nagging that truly painful. I took off on Friday and Saturday and it felt better so I thought it was gone. Now, after running again yesterday, it's more painful yesterday afternoon. My midweek runs only amount to 3 days at 3-ish miles each and then a longer one on Saturdays. Shit!! There's no way I could have an overuse injury already, with the short crappy runs I've been doing, is there?!?!

How old are your shoes?
-
3 months??i bought them at the beginning of the program.
-
Are they right for you? Did you get fitted at a running store?
-
Er... no. I went back to the line of shoes (new models obvs) that I've always worn back before I stopped running.

:sneaking:

Every individual body has its own thresholds for overuse. (My threshold sucks).
Also, a current model of a running shoe may or may not have all that much in common with your long lost favorite pair from x years ago.

What makes you think it's overuse? It sounds to me like sciatica, which is not an overuse injury, as far as I know.
-
Well, I've had sciatic pain before and this is definitely not that feeling. The reason I think it's running related at least, is that it only feels funky during and immediately after running. I feel pretty confident that it is waining though. I did three miles last night with zero pain. Yay! I will take the advice about getting a proper shoe fitting done. I did that once before and the person who talked me into this particular shoe was not the best advisor. I ended up with some terribly heavy and clunky stability shoe. Dana tells me I am a mild over pronator. Any recommendations ?

I'm going to say piriformis. Stretch and roll the butt area and definitely look at your shoes.

she claims it's not that. FWIW: stretching aggravates this condition for me.

Get some A.R.T. and you will be fine.
