Title: Saucony / Hind
Post by: Ice Cream on January 30, 2015, 07:56:36 PM
So, in the early 90s, Hind running clothes were all over the running stores, and I really loved their drylete winter stuff. I bought quite a bit of it, and it was great quality; I still have it all and 25 years later, it's as good as new, still. However, I do not see the brand all that much anymore, and it was (still is??) owned by saucony. And then, we started seeing saucony running clothes.
I tried to find more info on the hind brand, but there is very little on the web. Does anyone know?

(Sporthill also was much bigger back then than it is now; also great gear.)

edited: autocorrect changed saucony into saucy...  I rectified that.

Yeah, I have a Drylete top that at least 20 years old that is still my go to winter top.  I remember seeing some Hind stuff at Marshall type places a couple of years ago and nothing since.

I still have a bunch of Sporthill long pants that I wear for winter outdoor sports.  Stuff rocks.

Love the Sporthill stuff, too.  And I still have two pairs of Munich running pants from Hind, in navy blue and in cranberry. A classic.  They are not body fitting, just a little loose.  The best. They don't make that stuff anymore, in such fabric.  But still my favorite running pants, after all these years.

I think InSport is gone, too.

I used to get sneakers at a Saucony outlet and got a lot of Hind clothes there as well. I stopped wearing Saucony and was recently commenting to someone about something I had that was Hind. I can't remember what but yeah the brand has disappeared.

Sporthill used to say they had the original running pants, right?  I haven't seen their clothes or their ads in years.

I still have a long sleeve Hind shirt - it is at least 12-15 years old.  It has held up well.  In fact, I might wear it tomorrow...

Hind were like the original tights manufacturer. They were inexpensive and lasted well. Now you pay big bucks for Pearl Izumi or Nike.

Sporthill still exists. http://www.sporthill.com/ (http://www.sporthill.com/)
They didn't claim to be the original, but the founder former Oregon runner Jim Hill brought the idea over from Europe in the early 1980s. I had a couple pairs that lasted for years, and I still have a shirt.

I thought they were very expensive. But then, they were the first technical clothing items I bought; many of us ran in cotton most of the time.
