But now my hubs, who up until this summer had turned into a lazy slob who subsided exclusively on beer and cheese its, has dropped 20 lbs and is now an ultra runner.
I was the runner. For several years now, I have been the runner. And HE sat at home, eating cheese its.
But he ran a 30 mile race in the sloppy rainy mud in 30 degree weather on saturday.
So now I look bad if I sit on my ass on a snowy 20 degree day. :-\
So, I 've registered for a 10 mile race for this sunday. And I hate running in the cold.

Wow, good for your DH! That is quite a transition. Embrace the cold. Cold weather running is invigorating. After the first 5-10 minutes, your body warms up. Just be sure to dress properly, which I am guessing you are experienced enough to do. Running is zen, doesnt matter where or how it is accomplished. Good luck in your race.

Yeah yeah yeah, whatever, I know all that. It's just that my house and bed and blankets are so warm and cozy. WTF, would I want to wake up early and go out to stand around and wait for the damn race to start and then run for 10 flippin miles? Why?
It's all his fault.

:lambie: I hear ya.

My bf is a runner too. We both took about the same amount of time off and started back at the same time. I am the more consistent runner. But he just zips around at an "easy" pace of 7 min miles and while I'm nearly dying on an 8 mile long run he's chatting about what beer he's going to order at lunch. :fiery: It feels unfair that it's just so EASY for him.

I'm the opposite CE - our winters aren't harsh so I love running in the winter. I wither in the heat and running in the summer is painful for me. But I also know what it is like to have your SO pick up YOUR sport and then be better at it. :fiery: Even in the summer. Not fair. So not fair.

I hate it too. It doesn't have to be very cold for my asthma to go crazy and make it really hard to breathe. Its hard to run when you are coughing and gagging.

Exactly! that's it! It's MY sport. He hadn't done it for so long or when he did do it, he did it stupid like going from 3 miles to 15 miles w/out building up to it and then got himself injured. Now he's doing 30 miles!!!
Jerk.

As I am writing this, i saw the news about the cold cold weathere in the US on German TV. I am glad i made it to europe and can run in forty to fifty degree weather fow a few weeks.

I do not mind winter running as long as roads are not icy and the temps are above single digits and the wind not ridiculous.
-
Sub zero on Sunday, slipping on ice in the dark on Monday evening, Tuesday in shorts, Wednesday freezing rain. Fun stuff for running!
-
Are you running Chilly Cheeks? :D
I run on the TM most of the time in the winter. I just cannot do it.

Probably. It's the Icicle in Wilmington. I saw Joan's name on the registered list.
