Yes, I do not use any bladder for that reason in the cold temps. 

I have been using water bottles, but the sports top has frozen, too. At least, I can open the bottle and drink like that. Another thing I often do is plan my route around the hotels, fast food restaurants, shopping areas (Target), supermarkets, and just go in and use the bathroom and drink.
