10 days, 1740 shots with Canon DSLR, 261 shots with Olympus P&S = lots of processing to do.
the canyons, particularly when shooting in mid-day (when we were hiking) were very hazy, and as a result, i couldn't tell from my 2.5" lcd screen in bright sunlight if my exposures were even close, so i bracketed like hell and planned on doing a bunch of composite images using the hdr function of paintshop which is my editor of choice. the sky was so bright and the canyons typically dark, so probably 300 of the 1700+ shots are the same thing, so maybe 1300 or so distinct images. lots of crap. lots of great stuff. I had my laptop with me but i didn't get a good idea of the color or contrast range of the shots, but i edited a bunch anyway (not much else to do while the kiddies and wife are sleeping). i have attached a few below. i will probably be deleting these unless whatever i see on my nice big monitor doesn't change them too much. i will post more in the next few weeks after i have digested this whole trip.
what an incredible place. rainy days, sunny days, sunrise, sunset, mid day, the canyons are wonderful and colorful and just a plain treat to see. humbling.

Stunning. Just stunning.

More! More! I love the Zion, even more than Grand Canyon.

adjust contrast to minimize/eliminate haze, adjust saturation to give them some pop (without trying to be too obvious), and generally straightening the frame so the horizons are level, i didn't use my tripod once. those are the primary edits. and cloning out dust spots on high fstop shots.

Those are all amazing! So many great shots!
I especially love the shot of the generators in Hoover. feels like it could be used in a TIME article on the dam or something...

They all look hyper real to me. I can't fathom taking pictures with such amazing colour with my camera.
