Supposedly super-healthy fermented food. I have a jar that I should be eating one of these days...

Love it.  Not because it's a superfood but because I like the tangy taste and the crunch.  I don't think I would eat a big bowl of it all by itself, but it's the perfect complement to other foods.

I like it a lot on a hot dog or a Reuben. I don't think I'd just eat it on its own.

I have had a jar of kraut with turmeric in it kicking around for a while. It seemed like a good idea when I bought it, but I never seem to want to eat it.

That's exactly why I posted this... it's been there long enough; needs to be eaten. No turmeric in mine, though. I donlt eat hotdogs and Reuben.

think I might try this, but without the meat-based elements.

FWIW, I tried the recipe I posted above, but had to use left over Rao marinara sauce and a bit of tomato paste.  Sautéed an onion first, the threw in the sauerkraut, heated it, and finished by putting in the tomato products. I wasn't sure that was a great mix, but it turned out to be surprisingly tasty.

usually with potato or dumplings, green veggie, and some kind of lean protein

Love it. Reubens, in mashed potatoes, on hot dogs, or straight from the jar.

My guilty favorite brand that I can't find around here is Rosoff's.

Omg, I think we have the same unopened jar in the fridge. I even have told to ferment it at home. I somehow am just never in the mood, which is weird, because I *like* sauerkraut!
