I’m not fast but I did turn out a 5K road PR by almost a half minute on the 4th. To stay in the theme of the 4th, like Kawasa I also placed 4th (but, out of 44 in my new age group). Podiums were for the top three but since they messed up my chip time they had extra pint glass awards and gave me one. That plus the PR, and I’d have to call it a great day of running! Downhill 5k net -90m drop, total -100m elevation drop. 25:19. 16*C gorgeous weather and only a little light rain at the end up in Winter Park CO. 4

I. 3 hour hike with my sweetie, 7km (1:54 “moving time”) II. 40 minutes mostly downhill recon of upcoming 10k trail race course. (5k total) 25*C (77F), 12K, 2.5hrs. Excited now about my early August race b/c the downhill portion *might* favor my abilities. 5
Running / Re: Tuesday, July 8th« Last post by DrT(weekendwrAcur) on Today at 10:01:11 AM »4 too hot and hilly miles. It’s amazing how hot a sunny run in the low 70°s can feel if you’re used to low 60°s. Hearing what you guys experience temperature-wise I guess I really shouldn’t complain. In the last year, I’ve run in everything from -27C to 42C (-17F to +108F).* That’s not for everybody. For me, at the low end it’s about dressing for the temperature (and keeping up a good pace!) to stay warm. At the high end it’s usually about throttling back to an easy pace to avoid overheating and making sure I’m well hydrated. I’ve raced bikes a lot in over 100F, I don’t think I’ve ever done a competitive run in triple digit temps (bike racing offers some cooling effects from the higher airflow vs running). I’m signed up for a weeknight summer 5k series in Texas that will likely have one or two weeks above that this year… on the trail runs we usually get a break from the direct sun (but the trees seem to hold the humidity and eliminate any chance for a cooling breeze). *(-27C was my coldest documented run over 1km. I did log a strava activity at -40C (-40F) that same week because I’d never been out in temps that cold… but I just walked to the car and turned it on to confirm the temperature on the car dashboard thermometer!) 6
