I just wish we had better video, because Ive been analyzing a lot of sprinters, their speed from the start, their stride length, the number of strides for the 100m, their height and weight.

Boling's 6'2", 170lbs

1988    Carl Lewis (USA)    9.92    1.88 m / 6 ft 2 in    80 kg / 180 lb    22.6
1992    Linford Christie (GBR)    9.96    1.88 m / 6 ft 2 in    92 kg / 203 lb    26.0
1996    Donovan Bailey (CAN)    9.84    1.85 m / 6 ft 1 in    91 kg / 201 lb    26.6
2000    Maurice Greene (USA)    9.87    1.76 m / 5 ft 9 in    75 kg / 165 lb    24.2
2004    Justin Gatlin (USA)    9.85    1.85 m / 6 ft 1 in    83 kg / 183 lb    24.3
2008    Usain Bolt (JAM)    9.69    1.95 m / 6 ft 5 in    94 kg / 207 lb    24.7
2012    Usain Bolt (JAM)    9.63    1.95 m / 6 ft 5 in    94 kg / 207 lb    24.7

The fact that this hasn't prompted any chatter shows this place has nothing to do with running in any form.

It was wind aided but still a fast tme. He is a very versatile athlete and runs 46 400 with 45 potential and long jumps 25 plus. Definitely Olympic caliber in a few years.

That said you are a dick escargot and I do not care to engage with you.
I'll stick to running, thank you.

Wow that was impressive. Really good arm action. Something I always try to focus on. This kid has it. Interesting to see if he improves as he fills out.

Anyone remember Houston McTear?
I would get drunk on Bud Light with Dylan Mulvaney.

McTear ran a 9.0 100 yard dash--equivalent to a ~10.0 100m--as a junior at the Florida high school championships in 1975. I think it was hand timed, but it also equaled the world record. So that was front page news in the newspaper sport sections across the country. Went onto the Olympics the next year and made the final in the 100 m (I think) and got a gold medal in the 4X100. Compact and explosive.
I'll stick to running, thank you.

Almost getting into Brutal levels of sprint talk and trivia here. I double checked and McTear did not win a Gold in the relay in 1976. He qualified in the Olympic Trials in the 100m with a 10.16 (still considered the 3rd best high school time) but had an injury just before the Olympics and did not compete. He was replaced in the Olympics by a young Johnny (Lam) Jones who finished 6th. Another young sprinter Harvey Glance was 4th in the final behind Hasely Crawford (Trinidad and Tobago), Don Quarrie (Jamaica), and Valery Borzof (Soviet Union). That may have been the first time ever that the USA did not have a medalist in the podium, and actually one of the few times that they didn't win.

McTear went on to set a world indoor record in the 60 m (6.58), a record that stood for about 10 years, and it still stands as one of the fastest times ever. Broken by none other than Ben Johnson.

McTear had a hard life and got into street drugs, but cleaned up and married a Swedish athlete and they moved to Sweden in the 1990s. He died in 2015 at the age of 58.
I'll stick to running, thank you.

I also remember that McTear ran that 9.0 wearing old ripped sneakers, possibly Keds.

It took me years to figure out that Jason Rexing was for real. He as known was high school phenom in Ohio (I think) and ran college track somewhere in the Midwest.

He also won the state long jump title (over 25 feet) and Deadspin noted this about his anchor leg on the winning 4 x 400:

The meet culminated in the traditional 4 x 400, which Boling anchored for Houston Strake. Powerhouse school DeSoto was favored in the event, and when Boling got the baton, he was trailing DeSoto’s anchor by around 30 meters and three seconds. That should have been a sufficient gap to win, but Boling stalked his mark down and split 21 seconds over the first 200 meters. Boling walked DeSoto’s anchor on the final straight, winning the event with a blistering 44.74 anchor. Houston Strake’s 3:10.56 is the best in the country this year.

26'3" long jump
10.13 100
44.76 relay (45 for open) 400

I'm really astounded by the 400-LJ combo. There are some college runners who could do that but a very rare combo of explosiveness and speed endurance at such a young age.

And a little nuance, other high school age runners have gone faster but they did it in competition with pros and older athletes--so the 10.13 counts as a high school only record.
I'll stick to running, thank you.
