Not sure whether this should go here, sourdough, or dyi thread but we ran out of bagels and there were only 2 left at the store yesterday so I tried making dome today using my sourdough starter discard for the poolish. I ended up with 4 & tried two methods of shaping...one set is definitely prettier than the other. Taste/texture tbd!

I am going to Rio's cause I have done nothing and I love bread  :D
Come on over, we have an honest to god spare room even!

Today I roasted some beef bones and made beef stock.  I still have carrots and onions in the cold cellar.   You can't have homemade soup without homemade bread.

When I stocked up on groceries I underestimated how much we still ate out and how exhausted this would all make me and how much life work would suck out of me.

So I have like 5 kinds of broccoli but nothing "quick & easy" to make and zero snack food.

I signed up for a fruit/veggie delivery service yesterday, but it won't kick in until next week. Hopefully they'll stay in business throughout covid and we'll be set for produce. We have right now a lot of frozen meat in our freezer, so we'll work through that.

We have gone through a bunch of the snacky stuff I bought last week but I figured the kids would raze their favorites first. There's still plenty to eat here, though.

We're going to need milk in a couple of days, and I underestimated how much coffee DH and I would go through (we have a backup bag but it's FLAVORED BLECH). Otherwise we are hanging tough for now. We are low on beer but we can suck it up, there's plenty of wine and liquor. (Although if we get a hint that they are closing the package stores I imagine DH will want to go on a beer run.)

yes, as much as i hate drinking milk which has once been frozen (ask me about my childhood), i tossed two gallons into our deep freeze.

we will run out of coffee and half & half too soon, i think.

We have a service Fresh from the Farmer.  They are delivering eggs, milk, yogurt, fresh fruit and veg and even cheese and meat.

We had this for dinner last night. Too much liquid so it was more like a stew but really yummy. I at least doubled the cumin and added coriander and some heat.

So far I have made:
Shakshuka
Sweet potato quinoa chili
lentil soup
Irish potatoes ( https://www.food.com/recipe/irish-potatoes-candy-22171 )

We are stocked for a month. Tons of shelf stables- pasta, beans, rice, sauce, canned tomatoes, etc. In the chest freezer-- pizza, various bread/bagels, frozen meals, frozen veggies, frozen fruit, 12 quarts of various soups/stews/chilis.

After finally finding flour and yeast the first loaf of quarantine bread is in the oven. Next up is Portuguese sweet bread which DH has been asking for.

I’m starting to eat weird food combos after a week of not leaving the house. Lunch was mozzarella balls  with bits of corned beef. For dinner it’s sausage sliders, whatever those are.

This deciding on and cooking dinner every God damned night thing is annoying.

I’ll say!!!

I can’t believe everyone here insists on eating every single day, multiple times.
