It took me a few minutes to google what race she must be at. Apparently they don't have a tracking service on the runners.

Best of luck Meredith :runner:

Thanks! I did 7 laps before my tummy took a turn for the worst. The loops are 8.5 miles long unfortunately, where as all the other 24 hour races i have done were one mile or shorter. If it was one mile i probably could have gotten 10 more miles :( otherwise good race. My good friend is tied for second place and hoping he takes second.

Great job Meri! I didn't get out there until very early this morning to pace my friend Heather on her final loop. 12 loops and she was the #2 female!
How is she doing? My friend was 2nd male. I cannot believe I missed you!

I didn't get there until 1:30am so not sure if you were still there.

Heather did amazing.  Completed 12 loops (just over 101 miles) in 22:43, not too shabby for her first 100 and only her second ultra. She's really strong (and fast). Her hip was really sore and she cried on my shoulder a bit 2 miles from the finish, but managed to stay really positive overall.

I saw Amy!!!! So cool my friend and I were on our bikes checking the results and I turned around and there was sweet Amy! Just finished her pacer lap!

I ran until after 4 am, and then hung out supporting Dave to his 2nd place :) I was parked in a hot pink chair right behind Serge & Anna's stuff, pretty much next to the water stop.

MoS and her DD are so awesome, they surprised me then they found me some oranges AND peeled them for me! MoS also came back this morning.

I totally thought that you may have been there when i was there, but it was too late to contact you as i was preserving my phone during the run not to die before i came home.

The race was not bad, but I doubt I would run it again, though all my friends said they were interested, so I would consider pacing/crewing.

That was so funny! I was completely oblivious until you said my name. Sorry, I had to rush out of there so quickly - I was meeting a friend for breakfast before she caught a flight back home.
I know so funny!! We ended up eating at Lloyd hall.. I had no idea that cosmic cafe ran it now and they grow a ton of veggies right there on the sidewalk! So cool!

Incidentally, several of the volunteers told Heather they were hoping she would win...I guess Anna was being none-too-pleasant at the aid stations.
I heard that from my friend who was at the Fishtown beer runner stop (she did not know you, i did ask!) and I told her that they should all report her. Tell your friends too. It is totally UNACCEPTABLE to be rude to volunteers, esp some who are out there for 24+ hours volunteering. I could not remember the details, but i am pretty certain that there was an ultrarunner running high up in a race many years ago who was extremely rude to the aid station volunteers, repeatedly, and he got DQ'ed. If nothing else, Anna should get a talking to about her behavior and know that it is not acceptable. I spent a lot of time with Bart Yasso on the course and we were joking about it because 1. her husband (or boyfriend?) was there at the S/F line with a car and a bike in the MIDDLE OF A CITY (and right adjacent to a cafe) and could have bought her a piece of fruit and a soda and 2. she was gonna will $2500 or $1000 so she could have spent a dime or two ;)

It was the FBR crew who mentioned Anna's behavior. Heather sent me an e-mail - I guess she passed out about 10 minutes after I left and needed an IV drip.  She wasn't dehydrated (all of us pacers got all up in her business about her bathroom habits :D ), but had a bit of "rhabdomyolysis" and needed fluids to flush the myglobin out of her system.  She's fine, but sore today.

Meri, is this your friend on the left running with Serge?

I don't know this guy, but the picture cracks me up.

no, that was one of Serge's pacers. I posted pics on FB yesterday. Serge is one of the nicest guys, I see him yearly at 2-3 races I run and he is always friendly and inviting to chat with.

I've never actually met Serge - I just see him churning out mile after mile as if he doesn't have nerve endings. Ron Horn asked him if he was going to try to break his previous record, his response was just a shrug and a casual "Oh, I don't know."

Sometimes he has a good day sometimes he has a bad day. His record is pretty awesome, he still laid down some pretty miles. The race date conflicts with a lot of other big ultras, so the competition is not really that fierce.

Interesting. Both Arbona and Piskorska were on the US national team at the 2010 24-hour World Championships in Brive, France. The men's team won the bronze medal. The US scorers were Scott Jurek (165.705km, world #2, US absolute record), Michael Henze (154.482km, world #12, coolrunning.com poster using the names flounder and MikeythePig), and Sergio Arbona (150.481km, world #21).

Piskorska was the top US female, 133.232km, world #10.

One of the runners blogs about the race.

Here is a video of a segment of the race. The blade runner that appears at the start is Amy Palmiero-Winters. Jurek appears at 1:26, Piskorska appears at 3:16, Arbona appears at 3:29, Henze appears at 5:36.
