anyone make it?
I bought a bottle today. It's in the fridge.
-
I don't want to yuck your yum...
-
I do not like it, DD LOVES it and a girl in her class' mom makes kombucha for a living and is very successful. They sell it at local restaurants and Whole Foods and other markets. The children have it at every school event, the mom brings a keg. It is just not for me.
-
I tried a sample at whole foods a while ago and did not like it. I bought this one out of curiosity, because it is flavored.
I anticipate I will not like it, either.
-
Yeah, it is either your jam or not. It is not mine.
-
Not something I am a fan of but I know people who LOVE it!
-
actually, this bottle is quite good.
but Mayo clinic's site indicates that the "health benefits" are doubtful.
-
Is this the thing where you have a giant fungus (or is it bacteria? yeast? something like that) making juice in your fridge? I vaguely remember doing that in the 90's and that the juice tasted vaguely like apple juice.
-
You can be shot for not knowing what kombucha is here. As it is, I have to hide my distaste for it at gatherings. Especially when the host(ess) makes a homebrew version.
Yes, it's tea that's fermented by bacteria/yeast. And I think it has a decent amount of sugar in it to feed the yeast.
-
This falls under the category of weird stuff my hippy parents & their friends were into in the 80's & 90's and is weirdly mainstream. Next you'll be trying to convince me to eat carob cupcakes in place of chocolate, for no discernible reason.

I like some Kombucha. Mostly, I like the way the word sounds.
-
The microbial/fungal stuff going on in it is fascinating. It requires both!

Actually, 2 days ago a homesteading, gluten-freeing, homebrewing friend posted about being off chocolate but eating some carob. Her DH has the most lush beard you will ever see. So it's only a matter of time...

I wasn't trying to convince you... but apparently kombucha is the cure for everything. Might help your eye problem.

Same thing here. I don't think I would trust someone's home-made kombucha. But I do not even trust baked goodies at bake sales.

I heard that a diet consisting only of kombucha and carob keeps all infections away. :D

But only if you add apple cider vinegar and a splash of honey.
I think kombucha is gross.

I think you actually need to bathe in the apple cider vinegar.

The Human Pickle.

And oil pull with some coconut oil

I definitely need to brush up on the latest healthy food.

It is defiantly not Kombucha...that has been a "thing" in Berkeley for years. :D Bars would have it on tap. :eyeroll:

I live in the middle of nowhere. But yes, I know it's been around for years, more mainstream by now. So what's really new that I should look into?

Pea milk (think almond milk but made from peas)
Chia seeds (but that isn't super new)
Floral infused cocktails (lavender, hibiscus, etc)...I HATE these!
Tumeric in everything, including milk
Odd popped things (like popped sorghum instead of popcorn)

pea milk and odd popped things I have never heard of. Is pea milk green?
Hibiscus is something I avoid: it's in a lot of herbal teas. It's very strong in flavor, colors bright red, and is cheap.
-
I loooove hibiscus so much. My mom used to make hibiscus sun tea when I was a kid. mmm

Nope not green...I think it started as a thing vegans used but went more mainstream recently.

I am quite surprised, but I have developed a real liking for kombucha. Store bought. I don't think I want to venture into the homebrewing. I like the vinegary flavor.
