Worlds
« on: July 29, 2015, 10:08:39 AM »
Busche does not necessarily have a place on the team. http://velonews.competitor.com/2015/07/news/hoping-for-worlds-start-busche-scouts-richmond-course_379914

Also, the US men are currently on 18th in the world. I'm not sure how many entries that allows. Maybe only 6?

I've only read one article on transfers and it was so iffy on everything that I didn't think it was worth repeating. I'm guessing until the transfer season officially starts all we'll have is unsubstantiated rumors -- except for a those who renew with their current team.

Dombrowski is going to ride the Vuelta. If he survives that should put him in good shape for Worlds.

I was scanning Utah's results and noticed that Jasper Bovenhuis and Ted King, both of Cannondale-Garmin have the exact same time. Bovenhuis is not on the team's website so I'm guessing he's a stagenaire (sp?). I think they've asked King to show him the ropes and look out for him. Kinda sweet.

Dombrowski took the win and Horner is speaking out against the UCI because he couldn't get a TUE for asthma medication. I can't tell if he's just whining or if the UCI was out of line.

But anyway, it's a nice win for Dombrowski.

We only get six for the men's team. I thought we got one extra as host nation but I not.

Analysis of my vacation time and commitments for later this year indicate I won't be going to Worlds. :sigh: I'll be sad about this for years.

So Phinney made it.  :)  No Tejay since he broke a shoulder or maybe a clavicle in the Vuelta.  Where's Busche? I thought winning nationals automatically put him on the team. Also, Talansky for the TT win he took at nationals?

Sorry tenacious.  We came to the same conclusion - time off, plane tickets, hotel, being gone the week before, traveling again two weeks after, etc.  I understand.

They added Nathan Craddock to the TT and the RR teams.

I'm sad for Busche, but for all I know he might not have wanted to ride.

Worlds starts tomorrow with TTT! Who's your favorite?

I haven't heard yet if Phinney made BMC's team.

I'm hoping Evelyn Stevens' team takes the women's win.

Evelyn Stevens had her bike stolen, sky crashed in TTT practice (three injured, including Danny Pate), one of the women's TTTs crashed (five of six went down), and the police found Stevens' bike. Not a stellar start for Richmond.

BMC got a win and Stevens' team took second.

The women's IT is today which really sucks. That puts everyone who did the TTT at a disadvantage. Kristen Armstrong skipped the TTT, probably for that reason. She came out of retirement for this ride -- the retirement was to have a baby.  :) But I'm still rooting for Evelyn.

I was eating lunch during a training program last week and the guys at the table were all out of sorts because I'd never heard of a basketball player they were discussing. So I asked them if they knew who Taylor Phinney was.

If they don't know anything about cycling why should I have to know anything about basketball?

He was hungry

Or he was telling Oleg: "eat me"

As I said before, dude will do anything to avoid wearing that Tinkoff safety yellow+camo kit

  I wonder what his shorts will look like next year.

They could do multi-colored camo to match the rainbow stripes!  Tinkoff has no taste. I'm wondering if anyone will be able to restrain him from something ugly.

Well the jersey looks nice but they could still make him wear the team shorts.

What if the Team Shorts are black? Like SKY or BMC?

BMC's are red.

But Cadel got to wear black. I don't know what's up with that.
