pickles on TOP of buns
« on: April 16, 2014, 01:48:30 PM »
I have seen this more and more all the time: fancy pubs/restaurants spearing a pickle and attaching it to the top of your burger or sandwich.  It gives the goddamned bread a goddamned soggy spot.  How is it possible the chef doesn't know this?

Just don't order burgers and sandwiches anymore.  :)

I would hate that, because I don't like pickles and would be greatly displeased to have a soggy pickle-flavored spot on top of my bun. Boo.

This.  Depending on if I was feeling particularly pissy that day, I might send it back.

I did occur to me, however, that a FRIED pickle would not make the bun soggy.

I've never had a fried pickle, but now I want one.

If you have a deep frying to do list I would put pickles ahead of carrots  :D

I would put pickles ahead of all else.  On a super hot, sunny day there is nothing better than a white water river and kayak followed by a beer and fried pickles.

We should be friends in real life! However, until then, if you're ever in the region you should go to a place called Eddyline Brewey. It's on a great white water course and has awesome brews and food :eats:

Yes, I see this alot, but I don't mind. I like pickles.  I see it with olives too.  That seems like it would leave less of a "soggy" spot.
My father's wife will send her dish back if it comes with a pickle, she hates them so much.  She always asks if whatever she is ordering comes with a pickle.  I think it is obnoxious.
It's a pickle.  Deal with it.

It isn't obnoxious if you hate the taste. Like red onions. Even removing the onions the flavor is still there and makes me want to vomit.

Mmm. Fried pickles. Need to add that to my "to eat" list when we go home next week.

Soggy spot or no, I'm eatin' that pickle.

But I wonder.......

If I ordered a fried pickle sandwich, would it come with a pickle on top?
I could be completely wrong about this.
