Well that's a bummer, but I guess after 17 years its about time.

That is a bummer.
He was having some health issues lately, yes ?

He had quite a career.

Yes, that's why he dropped out of the Giro this year, didn't ride Le Tour and I suspect decided to not compete in the Olympics.  He's been great for the sport in BC - I got a photo of his Giro winning Cervelo at my local fondo this year.

I didn't know this.

I barely read cyclingnew.com or velonews any more. A friend at church told me Phinney is changing teams.
