Title: Two days two American records
Post by: Coyote Mas Loco on July 21, 2018, 11:55:05 PM
Womens's new marks set Courtney Frerichs in 3000 m steeplechase 9:00 and Shelby Houlihan in 5000 m with a blazing 14:34 Friday and Saturday, both by Bowerman Babes (Bowerman Track Club).

Bowerman is the clean NIKE Track Club, right?

That's the conventional wisdom. I think they're clean. NOP has a sketchy past, at the least with gray area violations and those accusations that would not be in the black zone, but in 4 years nothing definitive has come out.

And the sport is so popular you can hardly find any video of the new records.

Frerichs run was at Diamond League Monaco.
You can see it hear in Spanish

Or here (starting at the 35:00 mark) in French

More than a week later and I still can't find any video of Houlihan's record.

Lack of publicity is one way to kill a sport.

NBC Sports Gold had full coverage of the steeple. But it was still hard to follow because Kipkoech had such a huge lead in setting the world record that they didn't focus much on the field, where Frerichs was running. Yeah still no video of the 5000, which is insane. You'd think someone in the stands would know what was up and film it. A lot of Americans were at the meet and everyone knew she was going for the record. So yeah, sigh.
