I just tried noosa yogurt and OMG now I know why people like yogurt.

No more diet yogurt for me!

The lemon tastes like lemon meringue pie.  It is absolutely ridiculous.  I only allow myself to have it once every six months ;).  I seem to remember that the blackberry serrano was good too.

My other favorite dessert yogurt is brown cow cream top maple.  Also ridiculous.  Also wonderful.

Have you tried Liberté yogurt?  I think it's another great commercial yogurt.

I am still sticking with my own homemade, though.   :)

It was DH's. We used to import it from Canada years ago. Now it's available here, too. We stopped buying it (full fat), though, because of cholesterol.

 still make mine every week.  But I have to buy yogurt for DH.  He likes the sweetened kind.

Lately I've been making my yogurt using the Fairlife ultra-filtered milk product (https://fairlife.com/ultra-filtered-milks/whole-milk/).  I used some skyr as the original starter, but now I just start the next batch with a dollop of yogurt from the previous batch.  Using regular grocery store milk generally worked, but there were the occasional exceptions.  Using the Fairlife milk, never had a failed batch.  Plus you can cut out the tedious sterilization step where you have to boil the milk first and then have to wait until the temperature drops to a level where it won't kill the starter before you can start the fermentation process.  With this stuff, you just pour it into the Instant Pot straight from the fridge, add some starter, and start making yogurt immediately.

Interesting. I have seen it around, but never tried it.  You don't have to get it up to 110 degrees?

I stopped making Greek yogurt and skyr. Now only do regular yogurt, since calcium content is higher.

Will do, I like the 50% more protein; but actually, the 30% more calcium is not an asset: the body can only absorb a certain amount at one time, and it's better to spead intake of smaller amounts of calcium throughout the day.

Assuming your portion size is around 6 oz, I think the amounts of protein and calcium in yogurt made from Fairlife milk are well below the levels that would overwhelm the body's ability to make full use of those nutrients.  If I'm wrong about that, I'd be interested in seeing the evidence.

Interesting: a portion size for regular milk is 8 oz.  So reducing it to 6 for this milk provides similar benefits.

Oh, I just used 6 oz because that's my personal serving size for yogurt :).  But I don't think an 8 oz portion is going to exceed any limits either.  Yogurt is a great source of both protein and calcium, but not great enough in that amount to overload the body's capacity to use those nutrients.

I was going to Charlotte for a week for work, then when I got back I had only a few days and was off to Texas for 4 days.....etc.
 I will start a batch tonight.

Apparently, they have been mistreating animals and many places are discontinuing sale of Fairlife milk.  several articles on the news about it.

Oh no, that sounds pretty bad.  Maybe there is more to the story than what I was able to find online.  But if it's even half true, I won't be purchasing any more Fairlife products.  If they are complicit in the abuse of their animals, I'll buy my milk somewhere else.  I hear that Organic Valley, another dairy consortium, has just launched a competing product.  Their ultra filtered milk is supposed to be available at Whole Foods.  I hope their farms treat the animals better than the Fairlife farms, but the dairy industry as a whole doesn't have a very good reputation in that regard.  I guess we'll find out, though.  The animal rights organization that outed Fairlife is sure to look into Organic Valley as well.

I don't think it was PETA in this case.  The organization that videoed the abuse at the Fairlife farms was the Animal Recovery Mission.  I took a look at the video.  If you care at all about animals, I STRONGLY recommend that you not even take a peek.  It's very disturbing.  I couldn't get through it, but I saw enough to think it very unlikely that the ARM infiltrators were staging those scenes.  It's really awful stuff.

I drink skim milk.  Skim milk usually has very little milk taste.  Here in Canada, I have been drinking skim Natrel milk, ultra filtered... it tastes much more like milk.  They were out of Natrel yesterday, so I bought a cheaper Quebon milk.  much more to my taste.
